Chemical Peels
Reveal smoother, brighter looking skin.
Reveal smoother, brighter looking skin.
Chemical peels can help improve the skin concerns that skincare alone may not fully address, from persistent congestion and post acne marks to uneven pigmentation, rough texture and visible sun damage. By encouraging exfoliation and skin renewal, professional chemical peels can leave the complexion looking clearer, smoother and more even.
At NassifMD Medical Spa in MediaCity, Salford Quays, Manchester, we offer chemical peels from Obagi and ZO Skin Health. Each treatment works differently, allowing us to select an approach based on your skin's condition and what you want to improve, whether that is a brighter complexion, fewer visible blemishes or more noticeable changes in skin texture and tone.
Obagi Blue Radiance Peel
The Obagi Blue Radiance Peel is a superficial, salicylic acid-based chemical peel designed to improve skin clarity, texture and overall radiance. It is particularly relevant for patients concerned about blemishes, congested skin, rough texture and a dull or uneven complexion.
Salicylic acid helps exfoliate the skin's surface and is especially useful for oily, blemish-prone skin. By removing accumulated dead skin cells, the peel can help refine the appearance of pores and leave the skin looking smoother and brighter. It can also improve the appearance of fine lines, uneven texture and mild to moderate signs of sun damage.
For those experiencing lingering marks after breakouts, the Obagi Blue Radiance Peel may help improve overall skin clarity, although deeper acne scars and more persistent pigmentation may require a different treatment approach.
The peel is a relatively quick in-clinic treatment, with little to no downtime for many patients. Some redness, dryness or visible peeling can still occur. While improvements in brightness and smoothness may be noticeable after one treatment, a course may be recommended for more consistent results.
ZO Stimulator Peel
The ZO Stimulator Peel is a superficial chemical peel designed to refresh dull skin, improve uneven texture and restore a brighter-looking complexion. It uses a combination of exfoliating acids to encourage the removal of dead skin cells and support skin renewal.
This peel may be suitable if your skin looks tired or lacklustre, feels rough to the touch or has mild unevenness in tone. It can also be considered for those looking to improve the appearance of early signs of ageing without undergoing a more intensive resurfacing treatment.
Compared with the ZO 3-Step Peel, the Stimulator Peel is a gentler option and is generally associated with minimal downtime. It may be particularly appealing if you are new to professional chemical peels or want to refresh your complexion without significant visible peeling.
ZO 3-Step Peel
The ZO 3-Step Peel is a more intensive chemical peel designed to improve skin texture, uneven tone and visible signs of ageing. It combines exfoliating acids with a retinol-based step to support more intensive skin renewal than a superficial peel.
It may be considered for concerns such as rough or uneven skin texture, visible sun damage, fine lines and certain forms of discolouration. The treatment is designed to improve the overall quality and appearance of the skin, rather than simply providing a short-term glow.
Because the ZO 3-Step Peel is more intensive, the recovery process is different from that of the Obagi Blue Radiance and ZO Stimulator peels. Redness, tightness, dryness and visible peeling can occur over the days following treatment. Appropriate preparation, aftercare and sun protection are important, and your practitioner will explain the expected recovery before proceeding.
The ZO 3-Step Peel is not suitable for every skin type or concern. Your practitioner will assess your skin, current skincare routine and medical history to determine whether this treatment is appropriate.
Choosing the right chemical peel for your skin
Not every chemical peel addresses the same concerns, and the strongest treatment is not necessarily the best option for your skin.
The Obagi Blue Radiance Peel may be a suitable option for blemishes, congestion and uneven texture. The ZO Stimulator Peel focuses on refreshing dull skin and improving surface smoothness, while the ZO 3-Step Peel offers a more intensive approach to selected concerns involving texture, tone and visible ageing.
Pigmentation requires particular care when choosing a chemical peel. Sun damage, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and melasma can have different underlying causes, and some forms of pigmentation may worsen if the skin becomes irritated. Skin tone, sensitivity, previous treatments and your existing skincare routine all influence which peel is appropriate.
During your consultation at NassifMD Medical Spa, your practitioner will assess your skin and discuss your concerns before recommending a treatment. This also allows us to explain realistic results, whether a course is likely to be beneficial and how a chemical peel could fit into your wider skin treatment plan.
Chemical peel recovery and aftercare
Recovery depends on the peel selected. After a superficial peel, you may experience mild redness, dryness or light flaking. Following a ZO 3-Step Peel, peeling can be more noticeable and recovery more involved.
It is important not to pick or pull at peeling skin, as this can increase irritation and the risk of pigmentation changes or scarring. Your practitioner will advise you on suitable cleansing, moisturising and sun protection, including when to restart active ingredients such as retinoids and exfoliating acids.
A chemical peel can be a useful part of a longer-term approach to skin health, but results vary according to the treatment, your skin concerns and your individual response. A personalised assessment helps establish the most appropriate option for your complexion.

FAQs
The type of peel that will best suit you will depend on the range of concerns that you are affected by. The peels available at Nassif MedSpa, superficial and medium peels are commonly used to treat: tired, dull looking skin; pigmentation; dry or oily conditions; fine lines and wrinkles; acne prone skin and open pores. A deep peel would be used to treat deeper wrinkles and skin laxity.
The treatments we provide at Nassif MedSpa are carried out by doctors or specialists, deeming our chemical peels very safe to undergo. We use the most reputable products on the aesthetic market – ZO and Obagi – which will have medical approval and are scientifically proven to produce safe and effective results.
It is not common for a chemical peel to be a painful experience, however, a patient may experience a warming sensation or some tingling as the solution develops. If the treatment starts to cause some discomfort you must tell your practitioner straight away.
Temporary side effects are commonly experienced, following a chemical peel. This may include redness, dryness, slight stinging or minor swelling. Your skin will also go through a period of shedding, where the top layers of the skin peel. This may take up to 10 days to complete, and is a normal part of the process.
Chemical peels do not generally result in a required amount of downtime and you should be able to leave the clinic and continue with your day as normal. Although the shedding process may be slightly visible it should not be too significant.
An Obagi Blue Radiance Peel with Dermalux LED therapy is £150, and a Dermalux LED session on its own is £40. Prices for ZO Skin Health peels are confirmed at your consultation, where we also recommend how many sessions you need and how far apart. See the full list on our Prices page.
