What is pigmentation treatment at NassifMD?

Pigmentation treatment in Manchester at NassifMD Medical Spa, MediaCityUK, uses the Sciton laser platform to clear sun spots, age spots, freckles and uneven skin tone, with medical-grade peels and skincare where they do a better job. Every plan starts with a consultation, because the right treatment depends on what is causing your pigmentation.

The treatments we use

Sciton BBL HERO is our main treatment for pigment. It delivers broad-spectrum light that is absorbed by the darker spots, which darken for a few days and then flake away, leaving a clearer, more even complexion. It also treats redness in the same session. Full face is £500, or £1,200 for a course of three, and downtime is minimal.

HALO and MOXI are fractional lasers we recommend when texture, pores or fine lines need treating alongside pigment. MOXI is gentle, from £700, with a day or two of mild redness. HALO goes deeper, from £500 for an area and £1,500 for the full face, with five to seven days of healing.

Chemical peels and medical-grade skincare from Obagi and ZO Skin Health support every plan and are the safer route for melasma, which can be made worse by heat-based laser. An Obagi Blue Radiance peel with Dermalux LED is £150.

What to expect

Appointments take 30 to 60 minutes. Treated pigment usually looks darker for a few days before it fades, and you will see the clearest change two to four weeks after each session. Most people have a course of two or three sessions, four to six weeks apart. Because the lasers target melanin, they work best on untanned skin, which makes autumn and winter the ideal time to start.

Who it suits

BBL and HALO can be used on a range of skin tones when the settings are chosen carefully. Your practitioner assesses your skin type, the cause of your pigmentation and any recent sun exposure at your consultation, and will tell you honestly which treatment will work and what is realistic.

A suitable candidate will be determined during the pre-treatment consultation, when your concerns will be thoroughly assessed. Pigmentation often affects areas of the face and body, where exposure to the sun is frequent. These concerns can include: age spots, sun damage, melasma and discoloured skin from injury to the skin or acne scarring.

The treatment does work to heat the deeper layers of the skin, so therefore the patient may feel a warming sensation. This is not designed to be painful and the temperature of the skin will be closely monitored throughout. In many cases, patients have described this treatment as feeling relaxing.

The skin may feel some sensitivity after the treatment, which will ease in the hours that follow. You may find that your skin looks a little darker as the results are developing, which is also a temporary effect that will resolve within days. Other potential side effects will be outlined during the pre-treatment consultation.

Although you may need to allow for a few days for any redness, sensitivity or uneven tones, this should not stop you from carrying on with your usual routine or level of activity. Any concerns can be addressed by your practitioner at any time, before, during and after the treatment.

Sun spots, freckles and age spots usually respond well to Sciton BBL, which targets the pigment with light. If texture, pores or fine lines are also a concern, MOXI or HALO treat tone and texture together. Melasma needs a more cautious approach, often with medical-grade skincare and chemical peels rather than heat-based laser, because heat can make it worse.

We do not use a Pico laser. For pigmentation we use the Sciton platform: BBL for sun spots, freckles and uneven tone, and HALO or MOXI when texture also needs treating. These treat the same concerns people search for under "Pico", and your consultation will confirm which is right for your skin and pigmentation type.
