What is scar removal at NassifMD?

Scar removal in Manchester at NassifMD Medical Spa, MediaCityUK, uses Sciton fractional lasers, SkinPen microneedling and steroid injections to make scars flatter, smoother and closer in colour to the skin around them. No treatment makes a scar vanish completely, so your consultation starts with an honest assessment of what can be achieved for your scar.

The treatments we use

Sciton ProFractional is our main scar laser. It creates thousands of microscopic treatment columns within the scar, leaving the skin between them untouched, so the scar remodels from the inside and heals quickly. It is from £500 for one area, £1,800 for the full face, and a course of three C-section scar treatments is £1,500.

HALO treats scarring together with texture, pores and tone across the whole face, and suits widespread acne scarring. SkinPen microneedling (£180) is a gentler option for shallow scars and is sometimes combined with laser. Raised keloid and hypertrophic scars may be treated with a steroid injection (£250), on its own or alongside laser.

What to expect

Appointments take 30 to 60 minutes. After fractional laser the area is red and feels like mild sunburn for two to five days, then settles. Scars usually need a course of three to six sessions, spaced four to eight weeks apart, and the improvement keeps developing for several months after the last session as new collagen forms. Early treatment of a new scar usually gives the best result, so many patients are referred to us soon after surgery.

We can treat all types of scarring at Nassif MedSpa, but a consultation will be needed to assess the type of scarring you have, the treatment course that is needed and the individual results that you can expect. Many of our scar revision patients are often referred to us post-surgery, as early intervention is likely to produce a more successful outcome.

The treatments are quick and easy and are often very comfortable. If needed, a topical or local anaesthetic can be administered to make the treatment as comfortable as possible. Cooling packs can also be used to help soothe and calm the skin after the procedure.

Scar revision laser is a safe and effective treatment for reducing the appearance of a scar on many areas of the face and body. The professionals at Nassif MedSpa are highly trained and experienced and have an expert understanding of how the procedure works and the type of results that can be produced.

Laser treatments do not often cause the patient any significant downtime. Any sensitivity at the treatment site will settle fairly rapidly and does not usually cause any disruption to your normal daily routine.

This treatment uses light and heat to address the damaged cells, causing minor side effects in some cases, including: swelling, itching and redness. These are temporary effects which will often have disappeared within a couple of days. Your recovery will be monitored by your aesthetic professional and any concerns will be addressed at any time.

It depends on the type of scar. Acne scarring and uneven texture usually respond best to fractional laser resurfacing such as Sciton ProFractional or HALO. Surgical and C-section scars are often treated with ProFractional, sometimes alongside SkinPen microneedling. Raised keloid and hypertrophic scars may be treated with steroid injections, on their own or combined with laser.
