What happens during a HydraFacial?

A HydraFacial combines several stages of skin cleansing and renewal using its patented Vortex-Fusion technology. Unlike a traditional facial, which typically relies on manual exfoliation, massage and extractions, HydraFacial uses a specialised handpiece to deliver treatment solutions while helping to lift away impurities from the skin. This allows cleansing, exfoliation, extraction and hydration to work together within one treatment.

The process begins with a deep cleanse and gentle exfoliation to remove surface debris and dead skin cells. This helps improve skin smoothness and prepares the complexion for the following stages. A gentle blend of exfoliating acids is then applied to loosen accumulated dead skin cells and debris within the pores without the more aggressive approach associated with some resurfacing treatments.

Next, the handpiece uses controlled suction to draw out impurities, excess oil and congestion from the pores. Unlike manual extractions, which involve physically squeezing the skin, this process uses a consistent, controlled action to help clear congestion while delivering treatment solutions. This can be particularly beneficial for skin prone to blackheads and blocked pores.

The final stage focuses on hydration and nourishment. No. Most patients find it comfortable and relaxing. The extraction stage feels like gentle suction rather than the pinching of manual extractions, and the gentle peel may cause brief mild tingling. No numbing cream is needed.

The appointment takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the treatment. The immediate glow typically lasts around five to seven days, which is why many patients book one before an event. Lasting improvements in hydration, clarity and texture build up with a regular course of treatments.

For general skin maintenance we recommend a treatment every four to six weeks, roughly one skin cell turnover cycle. For concerns such as acne or pigmentation, a shorter course of more frequent treatments may be advised at consultation and then spaced out once your skin settles.
